What to Do in Ski Dubai with Kids if you Don’t Ski: A Family Guide

Ski Dubai is one of those “only in Dubai experiences and it’s a real indoor winter park in the middle of the desert. And the best part? You don’t need to ski at all to enjoy it with your kids. So, what to do in Ski Dubai with kids even if you don’t ski?

You and the kids can hop on the ski lift and warm up with a cup of hot chocolate ❄️☕

If you’re visiting as a family and just want snow, play, winter views and fun (without lessons or slopes), here’s exactly what you can do inside.

Penguin Encounters and Shows

The moment we stepped into Ski Dubai, the excitement was contagious. First, we headed to the penguin show. We watched the little penguins waddled around and got fed, it was impossible not to smile as they were so cute. I can say, this is an activity perfect for the little ones. It brings out a lot of laughter and excitement. There’s a schedule for this so make sure to check it before going for snow games. All in all, the penguin encounter is a relaxed, fun activity and ideal for first timers.

Did you know some of the penguins in this show were actually born and raised right here in Dubai? It’s a cute, educational, and truly memorable experience , perfect for toddlers and school-aged kids.

Tobogganing and Snow Slides

Next up, the kids were excited to jump into tobogganing and sledding and I joined in too! Tobogganing was just as fun as sledding. You can choose a single or double tube depending on what feels most comfortable for your child.
Then came the snow sled cars, an absolute blast for kids and adults alike! There’s a bit of a queue here so, patience is needed in this game. It’s completely safe and there’s a height requirement for this activity. For us, we were on a full-on adventure mode. So, by the end of the session, we were all basking in the winter magic and had a good laugh.

Snow Bullet Zipline (for older kids and adults)

Zipline aT Ski Dubai
Preparing to zipline 52 feet above the snowy slopes of Ski Dubai was thrilling! I absolutely loved it and can’t wait to do it again!

We also tried ziplining. This is a big hit for me and my daughter. And so far, the most adventurous activity we did. It was a blast! What I love about it is the adrenaline rush and of course the aerial view of Ski Dubai. If your children are old enough and love a bit of thrill, the zipline is a fun add-on. You get a bird’s eye-view of the entire snow park, and it adds a nice adventurous touch to the visit.

Snow Play Area

There are other soft snow zones, small slides and beautiful ice sculptures where children can simply enjoy being in the snow without pressure. What we all love here is the surprise snowflakes falling from the ceiling.

Snowflakes in the desert… okay, technically from the ceiling but just as magical for kids and adults alike!

Chairlift Ride

Riding the chairlift is easy, safe and feels exciting without being too intense. You just sit and enjoy the view below, no special skills needed. This was honestly one of our favourite moments too. The chairlift gives you a slow and calm ride above the park. A ride with a view of beautiful snowy hills, dotted with pine trees. It gives you the feeling that you’re not in the desert. It’s like a mini-winter break without flying out from the city.

We stopped at the cafe for hot chocolate and snacks and enjoyed watching the skiers. The cafe has both indoor and outdoor seating, but I recommend al fresco dining. Try to sit outside to enjoy the view of the skiers’ glide past you. You can order some fries, hot chocolate, coffee and hotdog sandwiches. Perfect for a quick family break.

All of these activities bring so much fun, excitement and joy that even if you don’t ski, you’ll definitely have an unforgettable day.

Children can also try an introductory ski session

Why Ski Dubai Works So Well for Families?

There are plenty of options for toddlers, school-aged kids and teenagers, from gentle snow play and rides for little ones, to tobogganing and interactive activities for bigger kids. Teens can enjoy the faster rides such as the zipline. You can even book a ski lesson for the kids or you to learn the basics and experience what it feels like to glide on real snow.

Discovery Ski Lesson is an introductory ski session for kids and even adults too. It’s a fun beginner class where little ones learn basic moves like sliding, stopping and how to use their gear before hitting the slopes properly.
Playing in the snow

My kids gave it a try and quickly picked up the basics, getting their first taste of what it feels like to glide across the snow ❄️⛷️. If your little ones are up for it, you can sign them up for this beginner lesson and include it with a pass for tobogganing and sledding.

Our Booking Experience Online (tried and tested so many times )

I booked the tickets online and the whole process was quick and smooth. You can book on Ski Dubai’s website or via getyourguide. The reason why I highly recommend Getyourguide is because of its easy process and free cancellation. I did book a tour once for Burj Khalifa access and due to my son being sick, I had to cancel it. And the cancellation was easy and I did manage to rebook it on another day.

The booking process was fast and easy, and I received the confirmation straight away, both by email and on WhatsApp. On the day of our visit, we simply showed the digital tickets at the entrance and walked in. No printing. No confusion. As a mum, that already makes the experience feel much easier and comfortable to begin with.

Practical Tips for Visiting Ski Dubai with Kids

  1. You don’t need to bring winter clothes:
Jackets, pants, boots, gloves and helmets are all provided.
  2. Choose your pass wisely and book online
If you plan to do several activities, a pass with more inclusions is usually better value.
  3. Go on a weekday if you can
It’s noticeably less crowded and easier with kids.

Is Ski Dubai Worth It If You Don’t Ski?

Absolutely! It’s a fun experience and a must-try in Dubai from sledding and tobogganing to driving the snow sled cars, there’s something for every age. A real winter adventure right in the heart of the desert, memorable, magical, and perfect for families.
